Bringing on new Staff Members

Greetings members of Mafia City Roleplay!

We are happy to announce that we are looking for new members to become part of our Staff Team! Our community is actively growing day by day and because of this, we are actively looking for individuals that wish to grow with us! If you wish to become a part of our Staff Team, all you have to do is make sure you are in compliance with the requirements as posted below, and then once you are in compliance, send Joshua a message on discord.

Requirements
  1. You must have a working microphone and be able to fluently communicate in English (Written & Verbal).
  2. You must have a strong understanding of what roleplay is, and how to do it.
  3. You must be an individual who is willing to learn and teach.
  4. You must be willing to dedicate a minimum two hours at four days a week.
  5. You must have a strong understanding of our rules for the forums, discord, and in-game. (Majority are posted in discord)
  6. You must have Grand Theft Auto V (clearly).

Looking for Group Leaders!

INTRODUCTION

Hey All! We started Mafia City Roleplay with the hopes of creating something great, an unbeatable environment, a community which all are welcome. To be able to reach our common goal there are certain things that are required which includes a well ran administrative team, active development, and strong group leadership. Within this thread, we will attempt to lay out as much information as possible about our expectations of new group leaders, and how to possibly obtain a group leadership role.

EXPECTATIONS
Our expectations for leadership will expand as our community grows, we want to create something great and stable, we want our groups to be self-sufficient and well ran. Becoming a group leader will require a good amount of In-Character and Out-of-Character time, if you are comfortable with this, please read the following expectations;​
  • An individual who takes ownership of their position, group, and their team.​
  • An individual who doesn't need constant supervision and has the ability to be proactive instead of reactive.​
  • An individual who understands what it takes to develop a self-sustainable group.​
  • An individual who is familiar with the group they are interested, they understand the ethics and tactics behind the group.​

HOW-TO BECOME A GROUP LEADER
Since it is the beginning we are trying to make it quite simple. We ask that you construct a small proposal of the group, include whatever you think is required. This can be sent in a form of a private message. Please send it to Joshua, Austin, and J.Votra (include all three).

Farewell Taedolf, you will be missed!

Dear Community Members,​
It’s with a heavy heart that I announce today the resignation of Taedolf. Taedolf has been with us since January 27th, 2019, and it hasn’t felt like it’s been such a long time in all honesty. He progressed through the ranks, starting off as a Tester he aspired to be Head of Testers, Head of Staff Management, Head of Group Management and progressed all the way up to Lead Administrator.​

Taedolf has been with the team through many hardships and stuck with us through the most difficult of times and we’ve been grateful for his time within the Staff Team. He’s had to see a lot of the hard decisions that have been made and has been here to see the project grow, and he has grown with it.​

He showed an immense amount of dedication to the project, trust, and has upheld his integrity throughout his tenure, he’s helped us through a lot of hard times and helped carry a lot of weight when it was needed.​

Some of the things that brought him to the position he aspired to were his overall ability to uphold his integrity, his dedication, and his desire for perfection. Ensuring that the tasks he was assigned were completed to the best of his ability.​

I’ve also seen him grow as a person since he first was brought onto the Staff Team, which is something that I enjoy seeing from each individual, is the growth that each individual has within the team. This project helps a lot of people grow, whether it be through their character or the knowledge that is gained.​

Taedolf’s resignation is for personal reasons, unrelated to Staff Activities, or server events, but nonetheless, he will be missed altogether.​

Taedolf, we wish you the best of luck and hope to see you on the team again at some point,​

Offical Illegal groups Stage 1



Dear Community Members,

Today we are pushing a new update that focuses on the Illegal Groups & General Groups menu. From now on you will no longer be able to just create a group via the B menu, but instead, you will have to file an application here on our forums in order to be classified as an Official Illegal Group. These changes will take place immediately and all groups that are not recognized as Official Illegal Group by the Group Management will be facing removal of the group within the B menu in two (2) weeks. All assets and funds from the group menu will be transferred to the named group leader (This does not include turfs.)​

Now, some of you may wonder what is the purpose of this system and what are the benefits of being marked as an Official Illegal Group. First of all, the difference comes from general management done by our Group Management between non-official and official groups. Official Illegal Groups will also be given special perks and benefits basing on their performance, activity, and the roleplay that they provide to the rest of the server and community. A tier system has been set to reflect this. We will be releasing more detailed information later this or next week regarding these Tiers and the spots of our current Official Groups within this Tier list.​

With the change in Illegal Groups, Factories will also be refactored and redistributed. Each Illegal group will be allowed to have a MAX of 2 weapon factories to produce guns. However, you will require a certain tier for this perk to be unlocked. All groups of Illegal/Legal that have current weapons factories will have their factories converted to Cocaine/Weed factories. Please make a property request to have your property converted to either Cocaine or Weed. A free move of your factory will be granted at this time for all factories being converted. As well there will be a sum of money for the conversion that will be given to the group owner of the difference that will be set by Group Management of the money when converting between a cocaine/weed factory to a weapon factory.​

From now on besides creating a group inside the B menu in-game, You will be able to create a group only by becoming an Official Illegal/legal Group on the server, and to become an Official Illegal Group you will need to create an application on the forum that will be available in a week from now with further information about the system. The tier system is created for the simple purpose to be able to bring some accountability to Illegal Groups as we have with Legal Groups. The tier system will work with the main goal in mind that a group with a good general immersion around the server will bring good roleplay for civilians, Legal and Illegal Groups. A group that will be able to provide good roleplay across the server will be rewarded with the next tier and the same goes with a group that will operate poorly they will lose a tier.​

The goal is to better the roleplaying experience all across the server and to move and improve from the current experience this is the first stage of Criminal Update that will be soon released.​

A Formal Apology

Dear Community Members,

I’d like to take a moment to extend an apology to our community members. As Leaders it’s very difficult to decide what action to be taken and how to move forward, it’s one thing as a community we’re still struggling to discover. Looking back at each situation that has recently occurred, hindsight is always 20/20. Meaning that looking back you can always see with clarity and what better decisions could’ve been made.

On December 5th, 2020 we broke our first year as a community, and we’re excited to have made it this far, but it hasn’t come without trial and error, and we’re not afraid to admit when we’ve made a mistake.

With the recent situations there are definitely different choices that could’ve been made, and more fair options to both Staff and Community Members. However, we are treated like we’re supposed to be doing everything perfectly and rightly so. As we are the leaders of the community, but we’re not going to be perfect in-fact far from it.

With the recent events, we’ve tried to choose the best outcome, as leaders and myself, in particular, are put in charge, or are responsible for both the safety of this community and trying to make sure we’re pushing it in the right direction. While some actions may seem rash or harsh, it’s not that we’re trying to do something to undermine or destroy another individual but those decisions at times can have something to do with protecting the community.

What I’m referring to is the incident on February 15th, 2021 where we had resigned Candy and Caveman from the Staff Team.

Looking back there were multiple options that were better under this circumstance, but we are learning and we’re continuing to better our efforts moving forward. This situation has taught us that in the future if we believe any malicious actions can occur we can remove permissions rather than take the route we did.

I’ve been in this project for over two years, and one of the most difficult facts I’ve had to face is the reality that I, unfortunately, cannot put it past anyone to do something malicious. I won’t go into the details of the events prior as I don’t want to expose anyone’s personal business.

What I will say is at the time, with the perception that we had there was a moment where it could be believed that malicious activity could occur, and as leaders, we had to make a decision. In a lot of these decisions I say as leaders, but mainly it comes down to is what call I make.

These decisions aren’t easy, I gather opinions from multiple members of the team and look at different obstacles, as well as potential outcomes and try to make a decision and I can’t promise every one of them will be the best. But most decisions of this level aren’t acted upon unless I give the go-ahead.

Under the pressure of these situations (which there is usually a tremendous amount), it becomes difficult to make the correct decision. It can cause you to get tunnel vision and not see what other options are around you. But it’s something I’ve had the opportunity to see and learn from as I look back.

I’m able to see now that the option I took wasn’t the best outcome, and the past week has allowed me to look over what could’ve been done differently, what preventative measures could be put in place to prevent it again, and how communication could overall be improved.

Our policies are something that’s going to be reviewed, from top to bottom as well as how to handle situations where there is an outcry in MCRP-General as we don’t intend to silence the community, only prevent toxicity.

This is something we’re only beginning to learn how to manage because something of this magnitude has only occurred twice in the history of MCRP, last time it didn’t go well and our approach this time wasn’t much better. This means we still need to analyze the situation and see how we can operate in a more positive capacity.

I don’t have results as to what this change will be, but from what I can see, our actions didn’t make the situation more positive or resolve anything, so we need to figure out how we can accomplish that as a team.

Our goals are always to protect this community, project, and its staff team and that’s something that will never change. Have our decisions made that seem like it’s not the case? Yes, from the perspective of the community, it does appear that way, even though it’s not our intention. We have to find a way to communicate this better as well as how to handle the situation better.

I’d like to take a moment to apologize to everyone involved in this situation, as we did make a mistake in how we’ve handled things, and not choosing a better option.

I sincerely apologize to the Staff Members, Community Members, Caveman, and Candy as what we did wasn’t the correct action, we could’ve done better and I’m sorry that we didn’t. But that doesn’t mean we’re not going to try to. At this point and time, we need to try to do what we can to make this better, even if it’s an apology, but as stated before we’re going to work towards making sure something like this either never occurs again, or is handled better.

As it’s vital to the community, this project, its staff team, and the people who have helped build up this community.

We’ve already started taking action to work even harder to prevent corruption, recently I created a system as I started developing to ensure that any commands that shouldn’t be used in roleplay aren’t permitted, as well as various logging put in to check if that has occurred.

Even more-so we’re now taking action to make sure that teams like the Properties Team have even more checks to make sure there’s no corruption, which it will now be required that if they purchase a property, they must notify the Audit Team or Lead Administration.

On the other end, I talked with Poke about how there’s the potential where abuse can occur and I removed character information from a command that the properties team has, so the only individuals who know what property is owned by who. Is the Audit Team which we’ve done everything we can to make sure the Audit Team is above board and we’re planning to do more.

More detail about the situation on February 15th, 2021 is that when we were approached about the issues at hand with members of the Staff Team, the main topic that had the most heat was the Dealership situation, and as such we prioritized it. Just as we handle every Staff Complaint, Player Complaint, Tip, or Audit. We only judge that situation and that one alone instead of a collective group.

What this means is we don’t judge someone outside that specific situation, so until it was resolved, we didn’t push past it. But once we moved onto the other complaints that were lodged, we found that there was abuse and took action as we normally would. Since then we removed FleecyJake and wiped him and his corporation which includes all the members of that corp including Bearski even though we haven’t found any malicious intent from Bearski, we did from Fleecy’s side and all of their assets have been wiped.

We’re still looking into Nostalgia's involvement as well and will be issuing any punishments if there’s an offense found. We’ve currently been prioritizing FleecyJake as he was still here and a part of the community.

To which I will add when FleecyJake’s corruption was announced, Bearski came to me himself and stated “if he bug abused and we profited from it...wipe the corp '', which we have.

They’re still under investigation as well, we were waiting to conclude the investigation to determine the extent of FleecyJake’s punishment but are issuing a community ban as of today. In the heat of the moment, this was something that we neglected to do because we were still trying to figure out what we were doing.

Moving on with Perfection, I, unfortunately, have had a lot to do, take over and handle this past week. Yesterday I was helping someone move all day, so as soon as I got back I had Poke arrange a meeting with Perfection this morning.

Going over Perfections case, as well as listening to his statements, and passion this morning for not only this project, but for the members of the Sheriff’s Department, he was quite vocal, to say the least. But his points were valid, as the information that was leaked wasn’t anything that was a tremendous disclosure to someone’s mental health.

While yes we as a Staff Team in some aspects are sometimes councilors to individuals involved within our team, we don’t have a clause, nor any policy that states sharing that information is a violation. We acted in this situation, it wasn’t trying to be corrupt, it was, however, an overreaction. We should acknowledge the former lack of policy in this and instead add one. Regardless of the fact that this was well established in the department as a “common sense” rule in the spirit of what that department does for our staff members, common sense is not always common.

When it comes to the sanctity of Staff Management, one of the things that we do try to protect, is that sanctity that members of staff can have council or someone to talk to in general and we believe that this service is something that’s vital to the team. It’s definitely something that needs to be protected and there was emotional bias in the situation to protect that part of the team. However, whether or not we’re trying to protect it, it wasn’t the correct action.

To those that have been accepted, it is your responsibility to reach out to Administrative Services via Discord Ticket to confirm that you are accepting your invitation to the staff team. Failure to do this within a period of one month will result in your invitation being revoked. Administrative Services is not required to contact you first regarding your acceptance. In your message, you should include your desire to accept the invitation.
After you have made contact the next steps are:

  1. Schedule your Orientation date and time with Administrative Services in the #staff-applicant channel on Discord.
  2. Attend Orientation, ensure you are 15 minutes early to your scheduled Orientation.
  3. R&U Staff Handbooks and Policies.
  4. Receive your role!
If you are unable to attend orientation, please ensure you contact Administrative Services ONE HOUR before the orientation begins. Failure to attend an excess of 3 orientation will result in your invitation to the staff team being revoked.

Dear Community Members,​

Upon investigation surrounding the purchasing of factories by Lead Administrator FleecyJake and since-retired Staff Member Nostalgia we found that they used specific staff commands to monitor the property types and current owners. By doing so this allowed these individuals to gain an advantage over community members by having access to exclusive information such as the property type(s) and property owner(s). ​

The property type(s) distinguishes the property between items such as restaurants, gun stores, factories, and the various other types we have. Additionally, having information such as the current property owner would allow these individuals to know if they have been from the server - which was the case of the owners of the previously aforementioned factories.​

At this time all assets regarding Beautiful People Inc. will be frozen pending a full investigation of all legal and illegal activities. Based on the current evidence on hand, these individuals will be facing a wipe.​

This announcement comes with a great amount of sadness from the community leadership. These were individuals that gained our trust within the community and have raised to the highest levels of the community.​

At this time FleecyJake has been terminated from the Lead Administration and pending additional investigation more severe server punishments may be issued to all individuals involved. ​

We thank those who have come forward, including but not limited to Kaza and being persistent in their belief of wrongdoing. We understand yesterday’s announcement surrounding the dealership bug caused strife and confusion. We stand on the morals that our words have meaning when it comes to being leaders - but we never believe that a position within the community should give an individual an advantage in-game. Individuals taking advantage of staff complaints, staff information, or access directly contradicts that belief. ​

Dealership Bug Complaint -- Final Ruling

Dear Community Members​

On March 18th, 2020 there was a bug that had surfaced that allowed individuals to import vehicles at Dealerships at zero cost for import. March 20th, 2020 we patched the bug very early that morning. During this time frame, there were individuals who had imported said vehicles but only two individuals reported it. ​

One of these individuals was Bearski himself, who has stated that there were many dealership bugs at the time and if you didn’t cross-check every purchase you made with your vault before and after importing vehicles, there’s no way you could’ve known if you spent money on the import or not. In addition, if your corp had any other businesses as well, it makes tracking income very difficult. With that being said, proof of this is that we still don’t have that capability to this day, to see what transactions are actually carried out on your corp/group vault which is definitely something noteworthy of an issue on its own.​

At the time it was reported by Bearski, via DMs and via the User Control Panel utilizing our bug report system. This was ten minutes after he had noticed and he didn’t purchase any vehicles after becoming knowledgeable of the bug. There were nine individuals who had imported vehicles at the time, who we are uncertain if they had known if it was a bug as our Discord has been wiped since the time this occurred. ​

This total influx of vehicles, with inflation cost, brought a total of $2,589,084.00 into the economy, spanned over 9 people averaging $287,676 a person. This also includes the price of inflation since that time, the list of individuals is as follows:​

At this time we had no implementation of the Audit Team, Refunds Team, nor did we have anyone except for Joshua and Ahmed to handle database searches, including looking through logging, correcting database issues, running updates, etc.​
We were also dealing with a plethora of situations such as:​
  • Cocaine Duplication that was up in the tens of millions of dollars\​
  • Weapons Duplication that was in the tens of millions of dollars​
  • Inventory Duplication that was also in the tens of millions of dollars​
  • Weapons being spawned in via Cheat Engine​
  • The Sahand Baghiri situation​

Due to our situation at the time, we promptly learned of the issue from Bearski on the 18th as seen here in my personal DMs​

March 4th Government Car Auction

On March 4th, 2021 at 2PM EST, Los Santos will be hosting the Government Car Auction (Formerly known as the Super Car Auction). The auction will be held at the Vinewood Bowl. You must register ahead of time to participate as a bidder at the auction. Before the auction there will be a car show in the parking lot starting at 1PM EST. Below you will find the rules and regulations that all bidders must abide by.
  • Rules and Regulations
    • Limit 1 Government Auction Car per registered bidder.
      • ((Also applies to members of the same corporation or group.))
      • ((A member of the same group/corporation of someone that wishes to participate in the auction with the chance to purchase a second car and they believe that they should be exempt of this rule due to their money being 100% unaffiliated with the other parties money may open a discord ticket to speak with Public Relations Lead to begin a discussion to see if they will be allowed to bid in the same auction as well.))
